Integrative Touch for Kids (ITK) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to creating a model of health and wellness that is empowering, transformative and unique. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for children with developmental disabilities, genetic conditions, cancers and other chronic or life-threatening illnesses.
ITK believes that when a child has special needs, a family has special needs and that communities can become networks of support. ITK retreats are designed with a "whole child—whole family-whole community” approach to healing. Children and their immediate family members participate together. The retreats provide an opportunity to experience an extensive range of integrative healing modalities including therapies such as acupuncture, laughter yoga, equine therapy, shiatsu, reflexology, music therapy, cranio- sacral therapy, massage, yoga, play therapy and sound healing. Workshop topics can include Stress Reduction, Peak Performance, Hypnotherapy, Extreme Self-Care, nutrition, breathing techniques, and meditation, to name just a few!. We also offer support groups for siblings and parents.
Our retreat model allows our families to experience and choose modalities that you may not have been previously aware of or may not have been able to afford. With the support of over 150 volunteers, including 75+ healing arts practitioners, doctors, nurses, respite care providers and general volunteers from Tucson and around the country who donate their time and services at each retreat, we are making a difference!
Retreats are currently provided to families from across the country at no cost to you other than your travel expenses to and from the retreat. The retreats are held in a ranch resort setting in Tucson, Arizona, and are made possible by funds raised through our fundraising efforts. We partner with a local ranch resort for the week long retreat period. All food, lodging and services are provided at no cost. Our long term goal is to build our own state of the art Healing Retreat Center in Tucson, Arizona. The Center will offer the best available integrative therapies from around the world alongside appropriate medical supervision and care in a safe and nurturing environment where children with special health needs and their families can come to rest, rejuvenate and heal. From this safe setting, families will leave with the “tools” they need to make life-long, transformative changes that improve quality of life on a day to day basis. Logan's Story
When we first met Logan, he was a shy thirteen year old dealing with the challenges of a rare liver and kidney disease. He joined us for the first Healing Retreat Program in 2009, along with his mother, father and sixteen year old brother. During their stay, Logan and his famiy had the opportunity to receive new healing therapies in an environment that was safe, understanding and nurturing.
