“Our vision is to change the way we think about health and healing in this country.”
-ITK Founder and Executive Director, Shay Beider
Healing Programs offered by Integrative Touch for Kids (ITK) are based on ITK’s “Health-Caring” model. “Health-Caring” provides an extension of care that focuses on the individual’s mind, body, spirit and community connections through integrative healing therapies and on-going education and support.
ITK is taking the concepts of integrative medicine to a new level by introducing healing arts practitioners, nurses, doctors, physical and occupational therapists, other professionals and community participants to “Health-Caring,” which is child-directed, family-centered, and reciprocal on every level.
Children and family members gain access to a large spectrum of therapies that can complement current western medical care.
Furthermore, ITK engages the community so that children with special medical needs are no longer isolated, have networks of support, and learn valuable self-care practices that can be implemented in their daily lives.
ITK’s “Health-Caring” model addresses the Whole Child • Whole Family • Whole Community in an innovative way that transforms how children with special medical needs are currently perceived and allows children to be seen in the context of their family and their community, not in isolation, or as individual patients.
This Whole Child • Whole Family • Whole Community approach allows for transformative changes and networks of support that previously did not exist.
