ITK recognizes that when a child has special needs, a family has special needs.
Raising a child with special medical needs in our society can place families under extraordinary emotional, physical, financial and social stresses from which there is little relief. Each member of the family is deeply impacted by the child’s medical needs.
Family members participate in ITK’s Healing Programs together. The physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each family member are addressed as family dynamics and interpersonal relationships are explored as part of the healing process. This philosophy differentiates ITK from other programs currently available to children. Parents and siblings experience a wide range of complementary and integrative healing services, education and support, which enables them to reconnect, nurture and care for one another in profound new ways.
ITK also helps families connect to other families and creates networks of support. Community participants come to volunteer and be of service to families that are experiencing different medical conditions and developmental disabilities.
Families become part of ITK’s community and can see and feel that they are not alone.
